Don't Waste It!Don't Waste It! won the award for Best Community Service Announcement at the inaugural Liquid Lens Awards (2005), part of Brisbane’s Riverfestival. The national competition asked film makers to create a television advertisement that would inspire the community to save water in the home and garden. Don't Waste It! shows Australia’s water resources rapidly being poured away onto our lawns at the expense of the natural life in our rivers. Australia is the driest inhabited continent in the world, but we waste more than a billion litres of water every day on our lawns alone. This is water that we are taking from our natural river systems. Many animals, including fish like the barramundi in the tank, could be threatened if we continue to reduce the natural flow of rivers. Don't Waste It! was screened on network television as part of water-wise campaigns throughout Queensland. It is also being used as the centrepiece of Townsville City Council's Creek to Coral education program.
