Edited two short videos featuring Earthwatch and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service expeditions to monitor sea turtles in Ingram Island.

2004 Director/Producer – Sharing Country: Girringun Indigenous Rangers
Imaginocean Productions for Girringun Aboriginal Corporation
I wrote, directed, filmed and produced this 15 minute video documentary about Girringun Aboriginal Corporation’s ground-breaking co-operative agreement with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service to form a team of Indigenous rangers working on their traditional country.

2004 Producer – Sharing Country      Imaginocean Productions for ABC
I wrote, recorded and edited radio documentaries on the move away from Native Title to more co-operative approaches to Indigenous co-management.

2003 Producer – Making Waves         Imaginocean Productions for ABC
I originated, recorded and edited this series of radio programs for the ABC. With new presenter Tim Prior I went out to sea with scientists and enthusiasts up and down the Great Barrier Reef to get a hands-on view of marine science and conservation.

2001-2002 Associate Producer – short films for the Prime Minister’s website
Working from 10 Downing Street, I researched and co-produced several short films on inspirational stories for the British Prime Minister’s website.

2001 Assistant Producer – Secrets of the Pyramids          TV6 for National Geographic
Researched and wrote first script for a live special on the secrets of the Great Pyramids. How were the pyramids designed, and what secrets do they hold? We sent a remote controlled robot 40 metres up a hidden shaft to discover a new chamber in the Great Pyramid of Giza.

2000-2001 Assistant Producer – Talking Landscapes        TV 6 Limited for BBC
A six-part series of “gem-like programmes” (The Daily Telegraph) in which Professor Aubrey Manning uses current scientific methods to discover how people have shaped the British landscape. I researched stories from around the country, found and assessed contributors from archaeologists to brewers to fishermen, and locations from flying microlights above the Fens to paleobotanical laboratories. I wrote the initial scripts, and also helped film, edit and post-produce the series.

2000 Assistant Producer – Brand New Bra                          TV 6 Limited for Channel 4
Charismatic product designers Richard Seymour and Dick Powell came up with a revolutionary new concept for the bra - but as it approaches its commercial launch, will it be boom or bust? We followed a catalogue of set-backs and disasters in the design and manufacture of the ‘bioform’ bra.

1999 Assistant Producer – Day Return to Space                TV 6 Limited for Channel 4
I updated this Equinox programme on the race for the first re-usable Space launch vehicle for Channel 4’s Walking on the Moon season. I obtained new material on the race to complete the first reusable launch vehicle, and re-cut the entire programme to include 6 minutes of new footage and interviews.

1999 Assistant Producer – 2+2=5                                        TV 6 Limited for NESTA
A launch film for the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts (NESTA). A piece of creative synthesis involving an artist, a composer and a neuroscientist.

1998-1999 Researcher – Trouble at the Top: Too Many Cooks   TV 6 Limited for BBC
The final programme in the renowned business actuality series, following the fortunes of the Pierre Victoire restaurant chain.

1998 Researcher – Horizon: Electric Heart                         TV 6 Limited for BBC
Interviewed contributors waiting for heart transplants, and liaised with heart surgeons on the new Left Ventricle Assist Device. I also assisted the BBC’s Nine O’Clock News science department with research for their newspiece on the first LVAD operations in Berlin.

1998 Researcher – The Ghost of Piper Alpha                     TV 6 Scotland for BBC
A controversial investigative documentary, winner of the Royal Television Society Journalism award for Best Regional Current Affairs programme. My research with survivors of the Piper Alpha oil rig disaster led to a commission from BBC Scotland. Having seen the programme, the Scottish National Party leader called for the re-opening of the Piper Alpha Public Inquiry.

Other experience

Company Director: Reef Check Australia I am a director of this not-for-profit Australian Foundation, which promotes understanding of coral reef health through community monitoring programs in Australia and the Pacific.

Media and Publications officer: CRC Reef From 2003-2005 I managed media and communications for the Co-operative Research Centre (CRC) for the Great Barrier Reef, writing high impact media releases, providing media liaison, developing and updating the website, and conducting analysis of the effectiveness of media output.

PADI Divemaster I worked for a year as a divemaster on live-aboard boats on the Great Barrier Reef and Ningaloo Reef. I have also worked in coral reef monitoring in the Philippines.
